Retail therapy on the Kings Rd with real WHEELS!

Day nine, Tuesday 7th May.
With no sign of the temporary wheelchair from Emirates that was meant to arrive on Sat morning, we decided to take things into our own hands. The planner found a London wheelchair hire company and in less than two hours had secured safe stable wheels, delivered to the door. This enabled the Pusher to have a day off and the Planner and the Payer could meander the shops on the Kings Rd at a leisurely 'female pace' rather than the  frantic hurried pace of the male Pusher. We headed West and by lunchtime rendeavoused with Laura Jane who had just finished work, at an old family haunt , the Bluebird cafe. Roger  and I had first dined there some 15 years ago when it was just opened and 'the' place to go. Lunch over, we wheeled onto a bus and in minutes were outside Peter Jones, Sloane Square where we discovered the essence of quintessential London shopping. It was not crowded and the staff were completely attentive so we meandered from the ground floor to the restaurant on the top floor where we drank tea and looked out over the chimney pots and London skyline.
Back down to Marks and Spencer to collect some ready made meals for dinner and home to meet the Pusher and hear of his tales. Sounding more British every day Stewart is now addressing men as Sir and ladies as Madam - the taste of couth and culture has no doubt been beneficial to his upbringing. He had managed to immerse himself in more of the old masters at the Tate Britain, and even latched onto a tour for nothing to enhance his knowledge. Then he climbed the ramparts of the Tower of London and sought out the Crown Jewels in the company of a jovial and vocal yeoman who was also escorting a tour group around the Tower of London.
Dinner at our very posh London pad was served on the blue and gold dinnerset, yes exactly the same as Mums 'best' dinner set that only came out for dinner parties. Here it is the everyday crockery! The flat ia very spacious with two bathrooms, two bedrooms and a kitchen complete with washing machine and dishwasher and of course a lift as we are on the top floor. It truly is 'A Place Like Home'.
