Day 19, Friday 18th May.
Arrived at Charles de Gaulle airport somewhat jaded but as usual in typical French fashion we sauntered through customs and immigration with merely a second glance - yes we did have the wheelchair escort naturally and there is no doubt that this is indeed a priveledge that the Planner and the Pusher are indeed indebted too.
At the kerbside the Pusher deserted the team to travel to Cannes, where he had an appointment with his director friend Allan to hob knob it with the rich and famous. The Payer and the Planner meanwhile headed into the 7th arrondisement to our apartment at 43 Rue Vaneau. We met up with David, who showed us the necessities and then once he had left we took stock of our very shabby chic bourgeoise french apartment. It is on the 3rd floor of an apartment block with a unique glass sided lift merely 2 1/2 feet by 1foot by 3feet. Just enough room for Grannie and I but the suitcases travelled seperately. It is smaller than the storage cupboards that Grannie has at Pinesong.
We were pretty exhausted following not much sleep so we decided to have a nana nap and then source a wheelchair. We are on the corner of two one way streets and within a 3min walk of a pharmacy, bank, small grocer, 3 cafes and a boulangerie and 2restaurants! Oh how I love the small comunity nature of Parisian life. The planner sourced a hired wheelchair from the pharmacy for a mere €23.50 but it would not be delivered till Sat arvo @ 4 pm. She collected some quiche and a salade from the boulangerie for dinner and some essential tonic for the duty free gin, and yoghurt and fruit for breakfast and then we bunkered down and didn't move far from the sofa. By 7.30pm the Planner had crawled into bed and the Payer was not far behind her.
