Grannie thinks she has died and gone to heaven as she awakes to the view over the treetops of the square around which our temporary home away from home is located. Stewart heads out for supplies and returns sometime later with tales of despair. He forgot where he was living and had tried the front doors of at least two other houses before finding the correct one! The problem you see is that all the houses look exactly the same and he really had no idea where he lived!
He headed out later to visit the Victoria and Albert museum while Grannie and the planner laid low for the morning doing domestic chores. We caught up with Laura Jane on the kings road for coffee and then marched towards Victoria Station via Sloane Square and Eton Square to meet up with Stewart and play tourists for the remainder of the day. We boarded the Original London bus, plugged in our headsets and traversed the real life monopoly board. Grannie was as happy as a pig in mud and the Planner reminiced on days gone by when she used to hurtle round the streets of London in Mrs O's purple minivan without a care in the world.
After rendeavousing back at the 'palace', the planner suggested a delightful little local pub called The Surprise, just around the corner in Christchurch St. On reading out the menu from the internet - quails eggs, snails and crispy pigs cheeks, there was nearly a mutiny on hand. 'We just want to go to real English Pub. Anyway the planner stuck to her guns and the booking was made. We rugged up and headed into the cold night air around the corner to discover amost delightful neighbourly pub full of the local Chelsea gentry with their wives, mistresses and dogs. We were sat next to table of 'English roses' who worked at the physic garden in Chelsea and enjoyed fish and chips, scotch eggs and shepherds pie for dinner. Yes it was trendy but the physic garden girls said they had been to all the locals in the area and The Surprise was the best and had the cheapest cider!
Home to our cosy flat on the third floor, by now nurturing a very happy but tired Grannie.
