The journey begins

Well finally 3pm on Monday 30th arrived and the phone call came from reception to announce that our chauffeur had arrived. We had not had time to sit around and drink tea or similar as Grannie required last minute adjustments to her jewellery and off course the daffodils had to be planted!!!!
But we loaded up the wheelchair and Grannie and pushed and pulled down the Pinesong hallway arriving at reception to discover a somewhat uncomunicative corporate cab diver with a somewhat average corporate cab. Didnt have time to see the facial expressions of the pusher and the payer but I ciuld sense the dissapointment. Afternmuch juggling of cases, removing of wheels etc 'Mr CC driver' finally managed to fit everything in and we were on our way. Half way to the airport the planner realised she had the guest room key in  pocket!
Luckily the airport florist shop -yes a reminder that we are still in NZ - sold trace me bags so we were able to return it wuth a minimum of fuss.
At checkin we were finally treated like the VIP's we deserved to be as business class passengers and after an Emirates special express immigration clearance on the ground floor we turned around and who should be waiting but Aunty Jean, Robin and his sister Dale.
Much ooing and aahing as you can imagine but how dare these people hold us up from racing to the source of the French champagne - the business class lounge. Stewart and I were desperate - it had been a frantic few days.
Finally we were there and Veuve has never tasted so sweet.
Grannie was just pinching herself.
