Mothers Day breakfast at MOMA

Day 14, Sunday 13th May.
Another glorious day in NYC, and wedeparted early for our special Mothers day treat at MOMA.  We had booked tickets courtesy of the planners membership at MOMA and thus joined the special guests, only about 50 mothers and their famillies, for breakfast at MOMA.
We had a sumptuous buffet of tiny muesil and berry yoghurt cups, croisants, pastries and vegetable quiche plus curried eggs, asparagus and prosuitto, spicy sausage bean mix, smoke trout crepes and then warm french toast with poached plums ! It was impressive and our balcony seating overlooking the MOMA sculpture garden was superb. Breakfast was followed by  a private tour of the Diego Rivera exhibition at the gallery and we were then left to wander at our leisure until we finally exited the MOM A design store at about 1pm.
We wandered along 5th Ave and came across the Abercrombie and Fitch store. A half naked man stood at the entrance and was proving the ideal icon with which to be photographed by all the young girld - did I mention he was exceptionally good looking? Anyway Stewart needed to exit his MoMA attire and put on his shorts so he insisted we all went into the gloomy nightclub atmosphere just to experience the lure of modern day marketing. Penny was not sure which was worse, Macey's mayhem or the A& F aroma! It was an experience and we think Grannie may have qualified for an award for the most elderly patron to visit the store.
Meandering north we arrived at Central Park and the planner insisted on a couple of steep hill climbs past the Walliman icerink (thou not iced up in this weather)in order the reach the Mall and then to wander down to the viewpoint overlooking the lake and Boat house restaurant. More icecreams for sustenance and then just as we were turning around to depart who should walk by but Yoko Ono and her son Julian Lennon out for a mothers day stroll along with millions of other New Yorkers in Central Park. The day was made and after mingling for a while we made our way out to the streets and headed home.  We considered a cooling refreshment at the St Regis on East 55th but sadly the lift access was not working so we retreated to our own  apartment for G& T's instead.  A beautiful flower arrangement  greeted us on the dining room table - thankyou Jo, they are lovely xxx Headed across the road for dinner about 7.30pm and then home to download the photos from the last couple of days.
