Promenading (on wheels) just like the Parisians.

Day 21, Sunday 20th May.
Well it was supposed to rain all day but luckily we awoke to a foggy overcast day.  So we set off for some promenading. First stop the back of Des Invallides, and coffee or rather petit dejeuner sitting at the Place de l'ecole millitaire watching the world go by. Grannie observes that there are alot of very tall french men and the Pusher is staggered to find the french dog owners actually bending down to pick up their doggie droppings in a plastic bag. I think there must be a new law as there is negligible pavement obstructions for which we should be very thankful since the vision of wheeling over little soft mounds which in turn would rotate over the big wheels is not very pleasant. We move on to the Rue de cler where the Planner has established a typical French street market is held every Sunday. It was indeed so typical and absolutely humming. The cafes were packed and there were queues outside the cheese shop and patisserie. People were selling fresh little bunches of lily of the valley and the fresh fruit and vegetables, large white asparagus and strawberries were to die for.
We continued our meander towards the Seine and after crossing at the Pont d'Alba, we reached our next destination - le bateaux moucharde. Purchased deux billet and boarded the boat for our 1.5 hr cruise up the Seine. It was fine and occasionally sunny so we soaked up the Sunday afternoon atmosphere watching the parisian landscape unfold.
Passed all the usual sights and just as we were returning to the dock the heavens opened and all those disembarking got drenched. Once more the wheelchair saved us from a drenching as the boat crew advised us to remain on board until we pulled up at the terminal. This was some 10 mins later by which time the sun was shining again. One can be lucky I guess.
It was now approaching 3pm and we were very hungry so we headed up to the Champs Elysee and Arc de triumphe. Photos done we landed at the first pavement cafe and after a prolonged time eventually got our fix prix lunch and a glass of red for the Pusher. The service was abysmal but once more we didn't need to tip and it was very relaxing watching the world go by and that included several wedding cars with the usual horn honking performance. We left late in the arvo and rolled slowly down the famous boulevarde  past the designer shops such as  Prada and Louis Vuitton where queues were neatly formed along the red rope barricade - yes it seems someone forgot to tell these people, many of them chinese that there is a global recession so the security guards limited the number of people in the shops at any one time. A familiar smell permeated the pavement at one point and we looked up to see a couple of familiar young handsome guys in denim shorts and thongs parading outside very ornate gilded gates - you guessed it, Abercrombie and Fitch.
We crossed the Seine over the Pont Alexandra and then headed around the other side of Des Invallides past Rodins sculpture garden and along the Rue de Babylon and home.
By this time it was 6pm and we (well the pusher anyway) had pushed the Payer about 8 kms. G& T's were in order and it was the Payer who flaked first and didn't even stay awake for dinner. The Pusher was not too far behind though.
